EXCLUSIVE Pictures and Videos from the shows at MBFW!

I was able to be in most of the shows at Fashion Week. I was mesmerized by all the clothes, designers, models, lighting, music and the elaborate sets that I hardly noticed that I was on my feet for 12 hours out of the day. I had so much fun and plan to be at the shows in February!

Fall Trends in the Lobby of MBFW

Working mostly in the lobby of Fashion Week, I saw everyone and everything that came through the front door. This was the ultimate people watching job. I saw the most outrageous outfits and some of the most chic styling. Here are a few things I observed about what's hot for fall in NYC. This is just my take, if you don't like it, don't read.

Chiffon Maxi Skirts!

Wear these with chunky knits, leather jackets, tanks, or over-sized button-downs. Wear the one-layer with a mini skirt or leggings underneath or get a double layer and pair it with tights for the fall. This is something I haven't see here in the South and now I'm in love. I got mine at American Apparel!

Military Dressing

ADAM Spring 2012

This trend has been out for a while, but it's here to stay (at least for the next 2 seasons). I love the casual feel and ease of this look. The boots go with anything and the jackets are so chic. Victoria Beckham (one of my icons) does it perfectly with the army green pants, aviators and classic blazer. ADAM showed military-style jackets in his Spring 2012 collection. This is definitely an investment for your fall and upcoming spring wardrobe.

High/Low Skirts
(Mullet Skirts)

Amy (left) is rocking the high/low trend.
Very chic at Fashion Week!

It's a skirt that's party in the front and grandma in the back. When I asked Jack how he felt about these skirts, he said "you better pray the wind blows from the back, not the front." But, seriously, all jokes aside, I like this new trend. It's very cute and feminine. I would go to places like H&M or Forever21 to find these skirts because it looks to be a trend that won't be here for the long haul. I would wear it with textured tights and short boots for the fall. This skirt in a floral print has a very romantic and pretty feel.

Menswear-Inspired

This trend works, as long as you keep some feminine elements in the outfit (i.e. heels, booties, jewelry, sparkle or studs). I would skip the tie though, it reminds me of some very bad fashion decisions I made in middle/high school regarding my mediocre fascination for Avril Lavigne. Since menswear changes at a glacial pace in comparison to womenswear, I would invest in some great high-waisted pleated pants, cute flat lace-up shoes, crisp button-downs and a great blazer.
